Early AF point and shoot camera; AF memory via shutter releasa button and distance symbols in the finder.
The design with the square lens housing is quite unusual. The shutter release button can be locked.
The lens is the usual 2,8/38mm, the shutter speeds are 1/8 - 1/500s.

Rolleimat AF

The Rolleimat AF has all the features the Rollei 35 doesn´t. Its fully automatic including a AF with focus lock and it has a built in flash. But it has nothing of the 35´s charm! Its feel is a little bit crappy and lightweight especially when used parallel with the 35. The pictures are sharp and the AF is mostly spot on.

Fujica Flash AF Date

Another one of the early AF-cameras. Built 1979, the Fujica Flash AF Date features AF with distance symbols in the finder, a date imprint function with three tiny wheels for Y-M-D on the top and an AF-illuminator which sends a phaser-like beam when the flash is activated. In direct comparison the Fujica is the most crappy of my early AFs, not only in the body´s quality but also in the quality of the pictures.

Cosina AF-35

The most crazy feature of this camera is the pop-up-finder. Bodies of the late 70s cameras are nothing less than streamlined. For me this makes them charming. But its a pita to clean the dust attracting plastic bodies!

An early AF-compact. AF-system Visitronic (passive). Like most other AFs from the late 70s it has a 38mm lens. The camera has no AF-memory. For off-center framing you have to change to a optional zone focus

Konica C35AF (I)

The worlds first serial-produced AF-camera. Member of a small group of cameras of the late 70s, with AF, but manual film advance. The AF is based on the Honeywell Visitronic system. The camera has programmed automatic exposure with apertures from 2,8-16 and a time range from 1/60-1/250s. The lens is a Hexanon 2,8/38mm.
The AF needs vertical lines and good light, but then it produces yery sharp pictures and is fast enough for (my) street photography. The manual film advance and the manual flash activation are other features that make the camera stealthy.
The camera is big, heavy, good to hold.
